China-Europe rail freight expands in first 2 months

DATA from China's railway operator revealed robust growth in China-Europe freight train services for January and February this year, reports Xinhua.


According to China State Railway Group Co (China Railway), the number of trips made by China-Europe freight trains totaled 2,928 during the first two months of 2024, marking a nine per cent increase compared to the previous year.

Additionally, the amount of goods transported via these services reached approximately 317,000 TEU, reflecting a 10 per cent rise from the same period last year.

China Railway also reported an expansion in the coverage of these train services, which now encompass 219 cities across 25 European countries as of the end of February.
