Ningbo-Zhoushan cargo volume hits billion tonne mark

CARGO throughput at China's Ningbo-Zhoushan port was 1.015 billion tonnes at the end of September, an increase of 5.85 per cent year on year.

The port posted a container volume of 27.26 million TEU for the first three quarters, increasing 3.56 per cent compared with the same period of last year, and maintained a stable growth rate, reports the UK's Seatrade Maritime News.

Ningbo-Zhoushan port newly opened up 14 container services this year, bringing to a total of 301 shipping routes that are supported by the upgraded port operation capacity.

During the first nine months, sea-rail cargo volume at Ningbo-Zhoushan port was 1.12 million TEU, up 27.1 per cent compared to the same period in 2022.
